A light meter is the light that you train your camara to adjust to, it is kinda like the gray-scale as if it doesn't have the same type of light you wouldn't be able to see it.
The frist photo i use the computer screen for light and everything that didn't have the same type of light turned black and is not able to see.
In the second photo i used my partner skin tone as the light and everything that was not the same as her skin turned bright.
Metering could help in the future when you are taking photo in a dark or light are to get the details in the photo that you want.
